Max Glyde is a Melbourne-based producer and engineer, with the most avid attention to detail. Max chases “moments” in the music he works on, and I worked closely with him to develop the sound of the mix and produce a master which made those moments connect.

Along with other objectives, there were three key features we wanted to achieve: Punchiness, Bass and Energy.

Before the pandemic, all sessions with Max had been done in person - this was the first time Max and I had ever worked remotely. It was critical that I understood their expectations right from the beginning, and working online for this session proved to be a huge success.

The main aspect of the masters we poured over was the low end. Max wanted a punchy and thumpy kick dynamic without too much aggression in overall tone. This required a bit of to-ing and fro-ing via email and ultimately a slight mixing revision, but we achieved the results we were all shooting for during mastering.

We achieved a master that was punchy and impactful. It earned a spot on multiple Spotify editorial playlists which included New Music Friday, New Dance Beats, House Special and We Be Vibin’.
